I finally finished my sweater! I have been knitting my first sweater, on and off, since early December. I learned to knit around Christmas 2005. My Grandma Rau gave me a few balls of yarn and some needles for my birthday, then she sat with me on Christmas evening and gave pointers as I knit my first scarf. One thing she emphasized was to knit more loosely and hold the needles softly.
Grandma passed away at the end of August, and she had just begun knitting a sweater from a pattern. For this Christmas, my mom and aunt decided to send me what she had begun along with all of the yarn, her needles, and the pattern. I’ve slowly been working on it, and today I finally finished. It’s such a reward to wear something that I made from a few skeins of yarn. It’s so cozy.
The section that Grandma started is the bottom few inches on the back of the sweater, and you can tell she did it, because she knitted it nice and loosely.
